The album cover for Chris Brown's upcoming, "Graffiti," begs to ask the question; is he trying to be an R&B hero or a Marvel Comics character? The latter must be considered because the superhero kind, and the wayward hipster doofus, are the only men that customarily where leggings out of doors. Seriously, give homie a utility belt and he'll look like Batman's all new, Krylon toting, guitar swinging sidekick.

Now Chris Breezy, he of domestic violence tendencies and talking bow ties, will have you believe his choice in glorified stockings was all about fashion. Don't be fooled. Yes, it has been universally accepted that we are all off the super baggy jeans. However, trading in one extreme for another, while simultaneously channeling your inner Prince Rogers Nelson, does not bring equilibrium to the fashion matrix.

N.E.R.D. Performing Radio (Video)

New look N.E.R.D., featuring the addition of vocalist Rhea, were recently featured on 90210, yes we know, performing the track Radio. Only a small sample is shown but from the sound, it definitely adds another element to the longtime trio. Radio along with other tracks from the band’s upcoming 2010 album can be heard during their tour in support of Jay-Z’s The Blueprint III.

KR x Mini Exhibition Video

Etnies x Casa del Camino Hotel Room

Etnies and Casa del Camino hotel recently embarked on an interesting partnership as Etnies of the Sole Technology family put together the finishing touches on their own exclusive room within the Laguna Beach, California room. The room’s goal was to help establish Etnies’ skating roots in an organic and non-contrived approach with a strong emphasis on skate culture through the use of design and iconic elements. The Etnies suite was designed by Etnies-founder Pierre André Senizergues and also embraces some sustainable touches as well. For more information, check out the press release below.

Sole Technology’s Etnies brand has gotten into the hotel game.

Starting today, skate enthusiasts and fans of the Lake Forest, Calif.-based brand will be able to spend the night in a room at Laguna Beach’s tony Casa del Camino hotel that was designed by the Etnies team to reflect the world of skate boarding, as well as the company’s interest in sustainable design.


According to VP of marketing Don Brown, the challenge was to create a sophisticated room that made a statement about Etnies and skateboarding without looking like an ad. “We didn’t want to make it look like a trade show,” Brown told Footwear News. “We focused more on the culture of skateboarding, taking the movement, curves and shapes and injecting that into the design.”

Created as part of a Rivera magazine-sponsored contest, the Etnies suite joins others designed by fellow surf brands Quiksilver, Roxy and Billabong for the Casa Surf project. The Etnies room was created by brand founder Pierre André Senizergues with input from the Etnies team, as well as from design firm Studio Chameleon. The room features many elements that call out the skate influence, including wheel tracks on the ceiling, a mirror framed with skateboard wheels, four skateboards mounted on the wall that guests are encouraged to use, “Go Sk8” artwork in the bathroom and a sink that calls out the shape of the legendary skate spot Chicken’s Pool. The room also features an iPod hookup with music inspired by skating and furniture from Senizergues’ Skate Study House collection. A video game system with skate games is soon to be installed.


But just as important as the skate influences, Brown said, is ensuring that the design had a minimal impact on the environment. LED lighting reduces electricity use by 82 percent, he said, and a dual-flush toilet was not only installed in the room but throughout the hotel at Etnies’ suggestion. “We’re making sure we’re not just preaching [green] but sharing it as well,” Brown said. Paneling in the room is from Forest Stewardship Council-certified woods and the paint is a low-VOC, non-toxic variety. And the sink is constructed of fly ash, a byproduct of coal burning. Most visibly, the bed’s 6-by-11-foot headboard is constructed with scraps of material left from the brand’s research and development process for shoes.

Etnies estimates the total cost of the retrofit to the hotel to be $20,000, although a significant number of pieces and items donated by Etnies and others brings the total value closer to $50,000. Rooms in the project, including the Etnies suite, will cost visitors anywhere between $295 to $495 per night, depending on the season.

Is a motorcycle still a motorcycle if it has four wheels?

The 2010 Cosmos 4RW V8 Muscle Bike is one crazy-looking motorcycle, but I can't help but think it's not technically a motorcycle. I mean, it has four wheels, albeit very close together. I don't think it'd be possible for it to just fall on its side.

In any case, it looks pretty serious. Those 17-inch wheels support a 350 cubic inch engine that's got 350 horsepower. If you want one, it'll cost you: $93,200, to be exact.

Powermat Charger Has No F&^*$%@ Wires

We've looked at wireless, inductive chargers in the past, but none of them had a commercial quite as fun as the Powermat. It almost tempts us to spend $100 on it along with the extra $40 per special case.

Wireless charging is still in its infancy, but the idea is great: you have a lil' mat or platform onto which you can toss your gadgets and let them charge. No tangled wires and fumbling around. There's a catch, of course, in that most of these chargers will require a special case or add-on to be hugging your device. This makes something like the Powermat one pricey charging station if you want to charge each of your gadgets. But hey, we'll overlook that because we like their commercial.
